While journalism lands me more work and business writing pays better, I am at my center a creative writer, with a growing roster of magazines, journals, anthologies, and radio programs interested in reading and publishing my work. I'm most proud of this kind of writing, which includes short stories, creative nonfiction, memoirs, essays, and commentaries - they're far more personal and come from a much deeper place.
In 2003, my creative writing was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
I've published and read my creative work in the following:
NPR's All Things Considered
KQED Public Radio's Hot Soup
KRCB-FM's Word by Word
KWMR-FM's Turning Pages
Greyrock Review
Transfer
On the Page
Make
Tiny Lights
Zebulon Nights (Word Riot, 2003)
Fresh California Oranges and Other True Life Stories (Trafford, 2005)
The Dickens
KGB Bar (New York, NY)
LiveWire Literary Salon (Petaluma, CA)
Snake River Poetry Series (Duncans Mills, CA)
Sonoma County Book Fair (Santa Rosa, CA)
